Next, Ri and I found a backpack for school, had some lunch, and went over to Dad's place to wish Elizabeth a happy birthday. We had a nice visit there and then, much to Riley's delight (she says with great sarcasm), we hit the blueberry patch, where we picked two more buckets of berries. (I just know she'll appreciate it in January.) Then home.
This afternoon, I canned most of the peaches. In a few hours, we went from this...

to this...

Cooling on the counter are four 1 litre and six 500ml jars. We'll appreciate these in January too.

All those peaches for a measily 4L of preserves?
You done good.
I have one basket of peaches, ready to rot, sitting on my counter. I shall eat about 8 of them in one sitting, then wait for the special effects to start...takes about 1/2 hour.
Actually, I managed 7L of preserves out of five 3L baskets. We kept one back for fresh eating. I never get as much as I think I will. Next time I think I'll go with nectarines. No peeling.
I've got a few apples to transform today. We've been out of sauce for a month or so.
How far you have come since you lived on Marion Ave.!!
You know, Marian. I would have done all this when we lived in Oshawa. Problem is, Stella kept coming by to borrow a cup of rum and I couldn't get anything done. The lush. Besides, I hated to mess up that lovely black countertop with the coordinating white, black and red tiles. Stylish.
