First we removed the table and the boys each took a screwdriver and started taking it apart. In the end, they removed twenty two screws (they counted several times). And each removal was announced with great pride.
While the boys worked at the table, Riley cut the grass around the firepit. Years ago, our old neighbours had found an old set of blades for cutting grass. Knowing that I like old stuff, they offered them to us and we - okay, I - happily accepted. Who knew we'd actually use them! Out they came again today, and Ri cut the grass away.
A short while later, Ri was invited to a friend's house so we took a break and drove her over. When we got back, I took over the grass cutting and the boys continued with the table. When Riley arrived home in the evening, we had a fire burning and the boys were roasting smushmallows.
As darkness fell, we watched the lightning show to the east and the kids chased fireflies. All in a day's work, I guess.

Did you remember to use your Canadian-made smushmallow sticks?
You're darn right we did. Best roasted smushmallows we've ever had, I might add. (Still thrilled with that find!)
Notice both boys are lefties. I think they get that from some aunt or something. ;o)
oooh smush me!
Yes. Mmmm. Picked up the jumbo bag of smushmallows (Nolan's word) and graham crackers today. I see s'mores in our future.
Mmmm...time to clean up our fire pit too!
Yes, mmmm. And have fun!
