Hazzard

Paul's cousin Rob was up on Sunday along with his lovely partner Amy and his young'un, Hannah. I called up brother Enos the night before, knowing he'd like to drop by to see them too. We had a great visit, catching up on life and taking a run or two down the toboggan hill. It had warmed up to a lovely -15 by that point so, naturally, it made sense to be outside rather than in front of the warm cozy fire. The kids lasted outside longer than the so-called adults.

At some point during our visit, we got on the topic of dogs. And names. Rob and Amy are looking to add a dog to their family. We got talking about names like, well, Cooter and how, in keeping with the theme, Rosie should be called Daisy.

(Warning: If you know nothing about the Dukes of Hazzard you might want to jump ship here. You may want to bail even if you do know about the Dukes. I would understand completely.)

We asked Enos if he was thinking about getting another dog. He's undecided just yet but it was suggested that, if he does get one, he name it Roscoe P. Coltrane. Enos thought that was a good name. Especially when letting him out to go to the washroom. "Roscoe! Pee."

Oh, we laughed. I've said it before - we don't get out enough.

Robert's pretty much decided on the name Uncle Jesse. Seriously. He pictures taking his new pet out for a walk and someone coming up to him and asking the dog's name.

"Uncle Jesse," he will respond.

"Oh, he's a nice looking dog."

"She," Rob will say.

I know. I know. I'm shaking my head too. (He's Paul's cousin, remember.)

I'll be sure to get pictures when Enos builds the dog house! In cop car white. With a siren on top.

*sings*

Just good ol' boys,
       Wouldn't change if they could,
Fightin' the system like a true modern day Robin Hood.

Well I'll be a possum on a gum bush.

You know, it's funny, but when I told people at work that we named our pup Cooter, there was only one that knew who that referred to.

Love the name Roscoe for a dog but then I had a Dukes of Hazzard lunch box when I was in kindergarten.

Get a blondie dog and name him "Beau"....or as they spell it "Bo".

Hey, I found this:
Moonrunners is a 1975 film starring James Mitchum, and the precursor to The Dukes of Hazzard television series

Who knew? I didn't.

and if it is a Hungarian Puli, he/she could double up as Bo Derek in 10. Not that that has anything to do with the Dukes of Hazard. Sorry. I was drifting away...

No Boss Hogg anywhere in sight?

Carolina - I know what you mean. Or may mean. Or do mean. ;-)

Marguerite - really? Were Bo and Luke on it? I wasn't that cool. Never got to stay at school for lunch either.

Dorito - nope, never heard that before. Wonder if Enos knew?

Carolina - I have to admit, I've never heard of a Hungarian Puli before. Will have to look that one up.

Mara - no, I wondered about that too. Maybe Lulu?

Reading your blog is like a visit to another world... or is that a different planet???
Either way, you make me want to visit.

While you were watching Little House on the Prairie, I was forced to watch this stuff. Little brothers - sheesh.
