We did wake up to a barely white Christmas and then the snow melted through the day. Tuesday made up for it all. The snow started around lunchtime and continued through the day and night. By Wednesday we were looking at about half a foot of the white stuff.
Paul pulled the sleds down from the rafters in the garage yesterday and the kids finally got to have their fun. Down the hill they'd slide then up the hill they'd climb. Over and over as dogs ran excitedly about them.

Right now bread is baking and I think I see an Apple Betty in our future. Brother Enos is coming over today along with Dad and Elizabeth. Wouldn't want to disappoint Enos.

I know it's been such a weird fall/winter weather wise. We've got some snow now, since Christmas. Glad you were able to get the beef and I bet the house smells great! Happy cooking :)
I'd take sand over snow any day of the year, but I'm glad you're all enjoying the icy wet stuff!
Hope you all had a really great christmas, and that 2012 brings you all you could wish for. x
Hi Luckybunny - it has been a strange fall. Shouldn't complain but it's about time for winter. And the house did smell good. ;-)
Happy new year Sharon! There's a lovely crust of ice on top of the snow now and we had a very foggy day. They're calling for rain tomorrow and a high of -13 on Tuesday. Someone needs to make up her mind.
Still no snow here! In fact, I just took a photo of a napa cabbage that is still alive and well in the garden, with NO protective covering at all.
Odd year!
I hope you had a fantastic holiday, and here's to a great new year!
Happy New Year!
Signed,
Maria Conchito Dorito Carrito
Happy New Year to all of you :-)
I'm Dreaming of a Dry New Year myself. It has been raining for far too long now. The dogs have to put on their snorkels when we go out ;-)
Nice to finally see a bit of snow. This weather is downright strange. We had our snow at Christmas but it didn't last too long and the final vestiges are being washed away as I type in a rain storm of all things. The greenhouse effect doesn't agree with me. Happy new year to you and your family from the east coast.
We had a very brown Christmas. The locals here have never experienced one before! I am an old hand at this brown Christmas thing. However, later Christmas night it started snowing, and it hasn't really stopped! We have now have about 2 feet! I am not complaining. After all I do live in Northern Alberta!!!!
Happy New Year Liz! Wishing you and your family good health and a very good 2012!!
All the best to the clan for the new year 2012!
from all of the Bonds
PS Had 15 cm of snow for Christmas- it was beautiful. Lost it all on Wednesday last week- due to pouring rain which currently still plagues us. Oh well- have our girl home and enjoying her company- no matter what it does outside!
K - now I have to look up 'napa cabbage'. I can't believe you've still got something growing there. Happy new year!
Dorito Burrito Whatevero - happy new year, chickito!
Carolina - happy new year! We fitted the dogs with skates today to get up and down our driveway. ;-)
Marguerite - happy new year to you and yours! Sounds like you're getting the same weather as Paul's sister and the gang (the Bonds) in Nova Scotia. Ah well; maybe Mother Nature is just setting us all up for some really good skating rinks.
Cheryl - happy new year! I can't believe you had a brown Christmas. Is that even possible up there in the real Great White North? ;-)
Margaret - happy new year gang! I'm so glad you've got your little girl home with you for Christmas. Probably colder and whiter in Scotland this winter.
Happy New Year. Liz!
Thanks Wendy. Happy new year to you too.
