"Carrots. Hey. Carrots."
Do you remember that? Gilbert, calling to Anne in the schoolroom and Anne yelling at him, "How dare you!" while breaking the slate over his head. Good times.
Speaking of carrots, I had a few of the past-their-prime variety to go out to the chickens today. I placed them and their basket ever-so precisely on the front porch to take out later. Within a few minutes, I saw Rosie, through the window, standing with the basket by her side, eating a wee carrot on the grass. Awww, our little red riding hood. When she came in, I gave her one from the fridge. She took it to the livingroom, dropped it, turned her nose up and strutted away. Moments later, Cooter wandered along and absconded with the treasure. (He had probably just peed in the kitchen, too.) Finding a safe spot between his crate and the back wall, he gnawed away. Carrots!

When I was a kid (I know hard to believe, but at one time, true) we had this ole dog, named Trixie. We also had a Holstein cow that got pastured in our huge yard, with a rope for a gate. There was also a rope gate across the garden. But that didn't stop the cow, or Trixie. We found them both in the garden. Trixie was digging up beets for the cow, and carrots for herself.
Dogs love carrots. That's a fact. Carrots and beer and cigarettes.
Cooter is twice the original size already. I don't think I'd want to hold him now ;-)
Each winter, we always have a huge bag of carrots to feed the horses. But we have to be very careful where we put the bag, because the dogs luuuve carrots too ;-)
Awwwww...
Do you call him 'Cootie'?
One of my favourite books. Is it possible Cooter has doubled in size since the last pics? He looks so big already. Maybe it's all the carrots.
CARROTS!
The only thing my cats will abscond with is meat! And only the best at that, no meatballs, only steak!!! Perhaps I should get a carrot eating dog instead...
