A Delicate Operation

Nolan will be six at the end of this month and still has all his baby teeth. Until today, that is. He's had a loose one for a few weeks now but wasn't prepared to part with it just yet. Earlier, Paul noticed that the adult tooth was starting to poke through in front of it. (We tend toward crooked teeth in this family.) Well, a push here, a wiggle there and with a little help from Dad...

...out pops the tooth...

That wasn't so bad. Guess we should expect a visit from a certain fairy tonight.

HA! Did you yell, "Hold it!", got your camera, then yelled, "ACTION!"?

What is the going rate for teeth nowadays?

We used to throw ours on the roof, ya know.

wow, was he ever good about sitting there while you popped it out. I remember screaming and howling as a child when my dad tried to take one of my teeth out. Hopefully he'll be well rewarded by the fairy.

I hope the Tooth Fairy is more reliable in your household than ours. Sometimes the little trickster takes two or three nights before making an appearance here! She's either very busy, or just plain forgetful!

Hi Wendy - the tooth fairy was very good to him. That little tooth was good for a toonie.

Dorito - in these parts, teeth bring a toonie each. I hear in the city it's higher. Must be the cost of living.

Marguerite - my Dad used to get out the pliers out. Then we broke into a sweat. ;-)

Fiona - my understanding is that she's very busy. There's been a couple of times where she couldn't make it here. When she did show up a couple nights later, she took the tooth, left $2 and a note. Seems to me one of them explained that she'd been in Paris collecting the tooth of a girl who looked just like Ri and was about the same age. I thought it was very good of her to leave a note.

I hope the Tooth Fairy was really generous with this wonderful boy.

Aww, thanks Olga. He did very well by her and is now $2 richer.

Awwww, we had another tooth fairy visit recently (for my middle child), and I SWEAR that tooth was handing by a thread for two months before it finally fell out. I think the Tooth Fairy has been late here, as well. It was my understanding that all teeth lost after 8 p.m. were collected the FOLLOWING evening.

Hi Terri - welcome! The tooth fairy was back two days later when Nolan's second tooth came out. She's one busy fairy!
