Willie

Willie was the best friend a guy could ever have. He came into this world on November 30th, 1995, one of ten pesky puppies born to our girl Chimo. We almost lost wee Willie as a pup but, darn it, he was a fighter through and through. With a tail that never stopped wagging, Willie happily pounced through life with a smile and always with something in his mouth. He was brother Enos's best friend. Willie fought the good fight and today we said goodbye. He joins Chimo, his sister Sandy and his big brother Waylon in a magical puppy place where there is no more pain and no more sadness. Nothing but blue skies...and dog biscuits.

Rest in peace, Willie. We love you.

Sorry to hear that Liz - that's two in the same year isn't it? I felt sad just reading it. The way you write about animals makes it clear to me that he probably had a very fine life.

Sad news. Every time I would visit, he would always take one of my shoes, and deposit it into the middle of the living room. He was the only one that did that, no?

Do you realize that Helga, my Helga, is the last one left?

Thanks gang.

You're right Philip - ole Waylon went earlier this year. The downfall of having four dogs all born the same day, I guess. My brother buried Willie with a copy of the song Luckenbach Texas. Waylon will appreciate that I think.

Who'd'a thunk that Helga/Kokanee/Puff would outlive them all. She's coming home tomorrow! Wonder what she'll think of the chickens.

I think she's too old to chase them. The chickens will be fine.

You're gonna brush her every day just like Enos used to do right?

I think he spent at least 2 hours making her look all "frou frou".

Dear Pet friends.
It"s always sad to lose a friend such as Willy. when we wear kids out in Sask.during the thirties we always had a good cry, when we lost one 0f our horses, cows,or a new batch of kittens or pups. Of course there was no such thing as spaying then. we always had a little going-away ceremony especially for the dogs.they are all special friends.
Note on WIlly.
Willy was an especially sharp doggie.one day Enostook Willy and his mother,Chimo into Peterborough.
Willy and Chimo walked up to a parking meter and Willy said,"Look mom,"pay toilets."
Another time when chimo was visiting, she said "woof,Woof" and Willy replied "Moo,Moo" Why did you say,"Moo-Moo" Willy?
Willy said"I"m learning a SEcond language.
Yes,Willy sure was a smart doggie.
He"ll be really missed
Bye, Willy
Love Garnie.

Oh look. Dad's back. And with a joke! How unusual.

And there's Dorito. Here we go.

Willie had more goofiness and spirit in him than any creature I've known. He always preferred people to animals and, if you wound him up and got him excited, he'd lower his head, stretch his front paws in front of him with his behind in the air and give a little howl as he stood upright again. As he was named after Willie Nelson, he was probably just singing a little country tune.
I buried two copies of the song Old Friends with him, as performed by Willie and Waylon - one on an LP and another on cd - so that he and his doggie brother Waylon can be sure to listen to the tune when they reunite and visit Nashville TN or Austin TX on their tour.

Chimo, Sandy, Waylon and Willie are very much missed.

Old Friends
