Scurry! Far!!

Heh, heh. A little curling humour, there.

The kids are back in Little Rocks for the winter, so we're spending our Sunday mornings at the curling rink. Not a bad way to pass a couple hours. The coffee's cheap, the hot chocolate is free and I get some reading done. Not much, mind you, as I have one eye on the action most of the time. Wouldn't want to miss Riley making a takeout or Cammy acing a throw for shot rock.

Today was picture day, so Enos' friend, the mole, braved the slippery roads and came out to take individual pictures and a few group shots. Poor guy was out with his band last night playing a few bars and raising money for Cystic Fibrosis. He didn't remember much after midnight, arrived home in a cab around four and was at the curling club just after ten. What a trooper. Last I heard, he was heading home to his couch.

Cammy's been moved up to the regulation rocks. The coach took the best of the lot and has been working with them with the big rocks. Unfortunately, they weigh about the same as Cammy (well, it sure seems like it, anyway) and he's struggling. He asked to go back to the little rocks after break today and the smile returned to his face. It's all about having fun, after all.

Sweep!

Hurry! Hard!

You got the car started?

It's minus 30 over here with the wind chill.

Or, as I used to think it was called, "Wind Shield".

I thought it was "Hurry, Hard!"

Oh, gotta love curling! I tried to learn as an adult, but seriously, I'm not that flexible, and won't ever be again. Much easier to learn as a young'un ;)

(I do have a curling trophy though - that I actually won, for actually winning - long story!)

One of my favourite curling stories, though - the radio station in Saskatoon that used to have a contest, where the caller had to identify if the sound clip game from a curling rink or from an adults-only movie...

The van wouldn't start yesterday so Paul had to boost it. Guess what? The battery in the van is on the passenger side and the battery in the truck is on the driver side. And guess what else? We park them in the garage so that the jumper cables won't reach. Oops. Dave had to come over with his cables so that the two together would reach. We're now backing the van in.

K - One of the reasons I like curling is because I don't have to drive all the way to Peterborough for it. And the kids like it.

Sounds like that radio station was fun to listen to. That's funny!
