Home Again

Vacations are great but, boy, it's nice to come home.

Just a quick one to say we're back. Where were we? Well, here's the customary picture of the kids in front of the park sign.

Yep. This year's camping excursion was to Lake St. Peter, up north of Bancroft. It rained, mostly. But I'll update y'all on the big trip later. There's more exciting news! I harvested my first lettuce today. I know. It's incredibly exciting. But,
wait. I've never grown lettuce before and it, well, grew. I think its greatest spurt was the five days we were gone but I'm not one to take that kind of thing personally. And it was dee-licious.

(Note that I didn't make the picture of the romaine bigger than the picture of the kids.)

Yes. As a matter of fact, your name came up a few times this week.

It's all good. Anytime we saw a sign advertising the Gemboree...

This was the first year I planted leafy greens. I've been having a big salad of lettuce, swiss chard and spinach almost every night. Maybe too big-- eating healthy and weeding the garden but no pounds off yet.
Went to my mom's (who will not eat anything healthy). She had bought a big bag of store bought pre-shredded iceburg lettuce for our visit. Yuck. Didn't want to hurt her feelings, but just couldn't stomach it after being spoiled by "real" greens.

Hi CJ - we've been eating a lot of salads too. There's something about wandering out to the garden and coming back to the kitchen with part of your supper in hand.
