Yesterday it snowed on and off during the day and by the time I left work, the windows and mirrors were covered in snow. It was no big deal - I just wiped the snow off the mirrors with my hand and used the wipers on the windshield. Well, there was a bit of ice left behind so I started to get out to scrape. And guess what. No snowbrush. We've been hit early with snow this year. Well, maybe it's not early for snow to come but it is early for snow to stay. We're not prepared. I need to dig out the snowbrushes and put them in the vehicles. And - what else?
I found this emergency car kit online and printed it. If this was a test - then we failed. Miserably. So, this weekend I'll be gathering up at least some of this stuff and storing it in our vehicles. And I'll add a bright piece of material that could be tied to the antenna as a signal to others that there's a problem. A collapsible shovel would make a great Christmas gift (hope you're not reading this brother Enos). Probably best to have waterproof matches. The van's going in on Saturday for tires. And it's time to renew the On-Star.
Are you ready?

Oh I pass with flying colours...can't get anything else in my trunk, though.
I don't carry jumper cables anymore. My battery has a force field around it. It cannot be disturbed. I'll just get a tow, thank you.
Besides, if my battery dies, the car must be reprogrammed...first we start with an intervention...
Paul's got an emergency kit that GM handed out a few years ago. Should look at it again and see what all is in it. It's probably got a candle and matches, some first aid stuff maybe and I think it has one of those outer space blankets. You know? With the silver lining on it. And I saw that the wind-up flashlights are on sale at...Cdn tire, I think. Could use a couple more of them anyway.
Last time the power went out in the house, one of the two flashlights wouldn't hold a charge anymore, the crank on the rechargeable lantern broke and Paul's big (plugin) rechargeable light ran out of power. We have the right idea - we're just not very competent on the execution.
Dear Ann Landers,
I have a problem. I have two cousins. One lives in Oshawa and
is an avid supporter of the Boston Bruins. The other cousin has just been sentenced to death in the electric chair in Florida. My two sisters are both prostitutes and my father deals narcotics.
Recently I met a man who was just released from prison where he
served time for armed robbery. I want to marry this man. My problem is: If I marry this man, should I tell him about my cousin who is the Boston Bruins fan?
...let's see how long it takes him to find that one.
